Municipal District:  19 February 2021 

Question: Can the council confirm if all children in emergency accommodation in the Municipal District are provided with tablets or computers to enable their learning while schools are closed? 

Report: The engagement of students with remote learning and availability of laptops/computers is a matter for the Department of Education and Skills. Various assistive schemes are administered in this area and are available to children currently in emergency accommodation in the Municipal District.

Discussion and outcome:  Councillor Liston enquired whether schools have the sufficient equipment required for each student.

Mr Brady advised that availability of laptops/computers was a matter for the Department of Education and the parents. There are different supports that can be accessed if the need arises such as Tech2Students which was widely publicised. The report was noted.
