Municipal District: 19 March 2021 

Motion – Councillor Vanessa Liston: That the council outlines its plans to develop safe cycling routes between the Leixlip Louisa and Hazelhatch railway stations to the Backweston Campus, in the context of the development of the new National Forensic Lab. 

Report: Kildare County Council are currently in the process of implementing its programme of works for the approved Sustainable Transport Measures Grant (STMG) from the National Transport Authority. This is taking priority for 2021. It should be noted that this request represents a large quantum of cycle infrastructure with portions adjacent to the Campus, and the R403, which are not included within the current NTA National Cycle Plan which would affect funding opportunities in this instance. Kildare County Council will forward this proposal to the National Transport Authority for their attention and discussion.
