Celbridge-Leixlip Municipal District: 20 November 2020

Motion – Councillor Vanessa Liston: That the council outline the full extent of and sources of information we have on how the pandemic has impacted employment levels, household income and indicators of child well-being in the Celbridge-Leixlip Municipal District.

Report: Children and Young People’s Services Committees (CYPSC) have indicated that there is no specific research report in relation to the impact of the pandemic on child wellbeing in Celbridge-Leixlip Municipal District or indeed for County Kildare.

However, there have been a number of national studies which may give a useful
picture of the impact on Irish children and young people:

The Kildare Local Enterprise Office has stated that relevant up to date statistics are not yet available from the Central Statistics Office. However Ernst and Young accountants Dublin have indicated that 2 out of every 5 employees are currently unemployed or on a PUP payment nationally.
